Big Rigs, Peterbilt and BJ and the Bear
Growing up in the late 70’s, I remember watching American TV series BJ and the Bear and iconic films such as Smokey and The Bandit and of course Convoy.
I loved these films, especially as they featured mighty American trucks.
As a child, I was fascinated by their sheer size, power, and ruggedness, and I dreamed of driving one someday. One brand that always stood out to me was Peterbilt, with its iconic logo and sleek, distinctive designs.
There was just something about a Peterbilt truck that spoke to me on a personal level – perhaps it was the way it seemed to embody the spirit of the American frontier, with its unbridled power and untamed freedom. Whatever it was, I knew that I was hooked, and that my love affair with Peterbilt would last a lifetime.
In the summer of 1992 as a young photographer I travelled the USA for several months.
Most this time was spent touring with a company in California called The Green Tortoise in an old converted 1950’s school bus which was home for around six weeks of my 3 months travelling.
It was near Montgomery Alabama while fuelling at a Truck-stop that I captured this image of this beautiful Peterbilt.
The retro image has caught a lot of attention over the last few years and after several requests Ive produced posters of the image which are printed in the USA and offered through Amazon
