George Hider is an established artist working with metal, much of it gathered from scrap he has acquired. Based on his farm near Merriott in South Somerset, he’s a member of the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen. His love of animals runs through almost everything he makes, which was very evident on my visit.

George has no website and no time for social media, but as I found out, he’s very welcoming and happy to chat about his work over a brew. Despite his lack of interest in modern technology and marketing, his work sells wide and far through several galleries, often selling out as quickly as he can create it.
