This location visit came in the middle of a full week of shooting across London, Devon, and Somerset. We spent a morning looking around P.H Coate & Son’s Willow & Wetlands Centre, deep in Somerset, as a planned location for this project.

The Coate family have grown willow here since the 1800s, producing everything from environmentally friendly wicker coffins to Christmas hampers for Fortnum & Mason in London. Just like cider making, the willow-growing industry had to be part of this project — and we returned later that year once the willow harvest was under way, which became the shoots behind the Matthew Godfrey and John Dyer & Malcolm Musgrove stories.
