Liz Steve Rowe’s wife messaged me to see if Steve’s slightly unusual passion might be of interest to my Life In A Somerset Landscape Project and of course I was intrigued to find out more and we agreed to arrange something.
I’ve captured people in the Willow industry before for my Life In A Somerset Landscape project.
Chris doesn’t work for a company he is an independent artist working from home for a small selection of close clients.
In early August I posted out on social media that I was looking for people to capture lifestyle portraits of for my project Life In A Somerset Landscape.
The response was impressive and I found myself having a difficult time responding to everyone that reached out but Im glad to say I did out of simple courtesy.
In August shortly after my social media appeal, I captured Melanie Deegan but since then It’s been a slow burner arranging shoots in between what has been a very busy summer with assignments.
After quite a large gap last week I continued with my project Life In A Somerset Landscape.
Sedgemoor Somerset is the area I grew up in and explored while learning Photography and somewhere that provides some amazing Photography locations.
I started Life in a Somerset Landscape as a personal project with the aim to capture various people and wildlife in the Somerset landscape.
The images are inspired by the county I grew up in and in which I learnt my craft starting back in the late 1980s
I’ve always been drawn and somewhat intrigued by the history of the land and the people who work it and wildlife that lives there so the project simply evolved from that.
The images are approached by me either simply documenting what I discover while others are created to produce a vision I have for that particular location or person within it.
The project is ongoing as I have time to pick it up and continue.

Continuing my personal filming and video time lapse project “Somerset Uncovered” the latest location was not only the closest to my studio and home but also one I’d never heard about.
This was despite driving past it many times over the last 15 or so years.
It was while chatting to my sons friend on the way to a football match that he was telling us of a spot that some of his friends go to swim in the summer holidays.
I was intrigued to take a look even if the directions were a little vague !
The following day with the family and dog in tow the location was eventually found and it was not only stunning but less that a 10 mins from home!
I went to film here 3 times in total mainly due to weather and some rather inquisitive cows blocking my intended shooting location.

Monks Yard at Horton Manor is the place I’m based for both studio work (when I need one) and for meetings.
Needless to say when they need Photography or video production services I’m there ready to shoot for them.
This is one of 3 or 4 videos planned to cover several parts of the business and was themed around Monks Yard’s incredibly popular Cafe.
I was given full reign over the whole shoot from story concept to pre & post-production.
I decided I wanted to show A Day in the life of the Cafe including people using it as a beautiful community base to meet for business and to celebrate with friends and family.
Unlike some corporate video production companies (and like in my stills work) I’m always looking to make the imagery engaging as possible and my film work is not different.
I combined traditional filming with video time-lapse photography to show the passing of time.

Continuing on with my video production somerset project titled Somerset Uncovered Time Lapse Video project I took a trip to a location close to my home.
As is often the case we can travel hundreds of miles yet don’t get around to those places that are closest to home.
The Burton Pynsent Monument is one such place I’ve meant to visit for a long time.
Located at Curry Rivel it was built in 1767 and is a grade 1 listed building.
As spectacular as the tower itself are the amazing views across the South Somerset landscape.

A short Time Lapse Video part of a series called Somerset Uncovered.
These trees can be found sandwiched between the A303 and B1368 at Whitelackington.
Due to the location, I’ve passed them often admiring their transformation over the seasons.
It was for this rather simple reason that I decided to create a short Time Lapse Video here.
